BCU’s Sr. Mary Arnold Staudt to Perform Organ Recital

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University invites the public to attend an organ recital performed by assistant professor of music Sr. Mary Arnold Staudt, O.S.F., on Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Chapel on campus.

The program will include twentieth-century compositions by Mulet, Schroeder, Durufle (featuring members of the Briar Cliff Singers); Locklair; two recent preludes on English hymn tunes by Alice Jordan; and eighteenth-century works by J.S. Bach and John Stanley. The event is free and open to the public.  

The Briar Cliff organ recital is being presented in honor of 2008-2009 as the “International Year of the Organ” designated by the American Guild of Organists to raise public awareness of the organ. Special recitals and programs are being scheduled all over the world in honor of this observance. 

Sister M. Arnold is an assistant professor of music at Briar Cliff University, where she teaches classes in music history and music appreciation. She also teaches private music lessons and serves as organist for liturgies and special events. She holds a BM degree from Briar Cliff and a Master’s Degree in Organ from the University of Iowa.
